Ford Motor Co. COO Nick Scheele sent an e-mail to colleagues last week trying to squelch rumors that another Ford executive, David Thursfield, had leaked damaging information about Scheele to the press.
``I have worked closely with David for many years, and I have complete trust in both his integrity and his loyalty,'' Scheele said in the e-mail.
The memo reinforced impressions in Detroit that Ford's top leadership is unsettled as the company tries to erase red ink and rebuild product momentum.
But company spokesman Jim Bright said the episode was blown out of proportion, adding that the leadership team is united. …
